Details: SEPS director Martin Magát said Ukraine last received emergency electricity from Slovakia in January.
He claimed that Kyiv requested emergency electricity supplies after Slovakia had banned them, but did not receive any.
The request for the unilateral termination of the contract between SEPS and Ukrenergo was submitted by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
Background:
- Fico announced the measure on 23 February due to the suspension of Russian oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline. He said electricity exports would be stopped until Ukraine resumes the pipeline's operation.
- Ukrenergo stated at the time that the termination of emergency electricity supplies from Slovakia would have no impact on Ukraine's grid.
- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has also threatened to stop electricity supplies to Ukraine. Earlier, Budapest and Bratislava halted diesel exports to the country.
