Background: OSINT analysts from the CyberBoroshno community had previously analysed satellite images of the military port of Novorossiysk, where Russia's Black Sea Fleet is based, and reported that Ukrainian forces had likely managed to hit the Russian frigate Admiral Essen during a drone attack on Novorossiysk on the night of 1-2 March. Russia had used the ship to launch Kalibr cruise missiles at targets in Ukraine.
