Russian ballistic strike hits apartment block in Kharkiv: 7 killed, including 2 children – photos

Russian forces struck a multi-storey residential building in the city of Kharkiv with a ballistic missile on the night of 6-7 March, killing seven people and injuring at least 10.

Quote from Terekhov: "A targeted ballistic strike on a multi-storey building in the Kyivskyi district has been confirmed. There is significant damage and a fire. People may be trapped under the rubble."

Details: Local media outlets reported explosions at around 01:35.

Syniehubov said that as of 02:35 six people, including an 11-year-old boy, were receiving medical assistance.

He added at 03:20 that the number of people injured had risen to 10.

Quote from Syniehubov: "Ten people are known to have been injured, including two boys aged 11 and 6. A 17-year-old girl has also been injured.

The entrance section of a five-storey residential building was destroyed and two floors of a neighbouring building were also damaged in the enemy strike.

A search and rescue operation is ongoing at the scene. Early reports indicate that up to 10 people, including a child, may still be trapped under the rubble."

Update: At 04:30, Syniehubov reported that rescue workers had recovered the body of a 65-year-old woman from under the rubble.

At 05:00, Terekhov said rescue workers had found a second body.

At 06:20, he added that a third body had been found under the rubble of the apartment building.

As of 07:50, rescue workers had recovered the bodies of five people from under the rubble. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Firefighters are working to extinguish a blaze covering an area of 300 sq m.

After 08:00, Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration reported two more fatalities – a boy and a girl. The authorities said the girl was 13 years old.

The total number of people killed by Russia has risen to seven.
