Air defences put on high alert in Poland following Russian missile strike on Ukraine

Poland's air defence systems were brought to the highest state of readiness on the night of 6-7 March following a large-scale Russian missile strike on Ukraine.

Details: Operational Command reported that the Russian attack on Ukraine had also triggered operations by Polish aircraft.

"In line with current procedures, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces has deployed the necessary forces and assets under its control. Ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have been put on high alert," the statement said.

Later, the command confirmed that operations in Polish airspace had concluded.
