13-year-old young naturalist at Kharkiv Zoo killed with her mother and grandmother in Russian attack

Yelyzaveta Polianska, a 13-year-old young naturalist at the local zoo, was killed along with her mother and grandmother in a Russian missile strike on Kharkiv on the night of 6-7 March. The girl was passionate about nature and loved animals immensely.

Details: Yelyzaveta Polianska was an eighth-grade student at secondary school No. 16. She became interested in the zoo thanks to her teacher, who had also been a young naturalist as a child and had started her path by studying biology.
"Liza was a sincere, bright child – curious and kind. She loved animals dearly and genuinely rejoiced at every meeting with our animals. There was always a lot of curiosity, warmth and sincere love for the living world in her eyes," zoo staff said.
Yelyzaveta was killed together with her mother, Yana Polianska, a head librarian, and her grandmother, Olena Radziievska, the director of a bank branch.

Background:
- On the night of 6-7 March, Russian forces struck a residential high-rise building in Kharkiv with ballistic missiles. Ten people were killed in the attack. Search and rescue operations at the building have now been completed, and the identification of the people's bodies is ongoing.
- The attack also killed primary school teacher Olena Udovychenko and her nine-year-old son Hordii. The woman taught at Kharkiv secondary school No. 6, while the boy was passionate about hockey.
- The strike also killed dentist Anhelina Yaments, 40-year-old Pavlo Zhyvotov and his 65-year-old mother Tetiana.
