Zelenskyy: Ukraine's partners currently focused on Iran, trilateral meeting postponed

The trilateral meeting between Ukraine, Russia and the United States that had been planned for this week has been postponed due to the war in the Middle East.

Quote: "I held a meeting with our negotiating team. It is important that we are in communication with the American side virtually 24/7. At the moment, the partners' priority and all attention are focused on the situation around Iran, and because of this the meeting that had been planned for this week is being postponed at the proposal of the American side.

However, Ukraine is ready for a meeting at any moment, in a format that can help and that will be realistic in terms of ending the war."

Details: Zelenskyy said that thanks to Ukrainian intelligence, the team had provided him with a report on Russian intentions.

He instructed that the Americans be informed that Ukraine is prepared for strategic joint work in the interests of security, particularly as regards protection against attack drones. The president added that Ukraine is willing to work substantively to bring the Russo-Ukrainian war to an end.

Quote: "We see that the Russians are now trying to manipulate the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region in favour of their aggression, and also to effectively turn the Iranian regime's strikes against its neighbours and American bases into a second front of Russia's war against Ukraine and, more broadly, against the entire West.

This must not be allowed. Evil must not be given opportunities for coordination, but the protection of life must be clearly coordinated."

Background: On 7 March, sources close to the Ukrainian delegation told Ukrainska Pravda that the next meeting of the Ukraine-US-Russia negotiating groups in the trilateral format might take place the following week.
