Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy insists he needs to meet his US counterpart Donald Trump, saying that some issues remain at a standstill.

Details: Zelenskyy noted that he has not spoken with Trump about the recent easing of US sanctions against Russian oil.

He also stressed that Trump is aware of Ukraine's position on this issue.

"I think we have many issues: the talks and drones and the Middle East. I think we need to meet with the president, because the teams are working, but we have some issues that are at a standstill. Our teams need to work more on our meeting," Zelenskyy said.

  • The US is known to have lifted sanctions on Russian oil currently at sea. Washington said the move was intended to stabilise global energy markets after oil prices surged due to the US-Israeli war against Iran and Tehran's attacks across the Persian Gulf, which has effectively paralysed oil exports from the region.
