Russian Security Council secretary says Ukrainian attack drones can reach any region of Russia

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu has complained that the pace of development of Ukrainian unmanned systems and the methods of their use are such that no region of Russia can feel safe.

Details: Speaking at an offsite meeting in Yekaterinburg, Shoigu noted that until recently the Ural region had been beyond the reach of air strikes from Ukrainian territory, "but today they are already in the zone of direct threat".
He said the Ural region hosts strategic plants that are part of the military-industrial complex, energy facilities and chemical industry sites, as well as major oil and gas fields – all of which form the backbone of Russia's economic security and defence capability.
Shoigu also pointed out that the region has an extensive and dense transport infrastructure, including major railway lines and hubs and federal highways.
Quote: "Disabling them could not only cause significant economic damage but also destabilise the functioning of major agglomerations and disrupt supply chains, including those critical for supporting the special military operation [as the Russians refer to their unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine – ed.]."
Background:
- Russian governors and the Russian Ministry of Defence have repeatedly reported strikes by Ukrainian drones on facilities related to the military-industrial complex, with the range of such drones steadily increasing.
- Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine now "has cards" thanks to the Ukrainian military and the country's defence production that has expanded since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
