Russia attacks Ukraine with 133 drones, 109 downed, hits reported

Russian forces have attacked Ukraine with 133 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones from the evening of 18 March. Ukraine's air defence has managed to down 109 UAVs, although strikes have been recorded at 11 locations.

Quote: "As of 08:00, [Ukrainian] air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 109 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones in the country's north, south, west and east.

Hits by 20 UAVs have been recorded at 11 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at 7 locations."

Details: The drones were launched from the Russian cities of Oryol, Shatalovo, Bryansk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk as well as from Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

Seventy of the UAVs were Shahed loitering munitions.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

As of 08:00, the attack is ongoing, as several Russian drones are still in Ukrainian airspace.
