Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, has signed an order for the compulsory evacuation of children from certain districts of Sloviansk that are most vulnerable to Russian attacks.

Details: According to the order, the evacuation concerns the following streets: Viacheslav Chornovil, Myronivska, Karpatska, Shakhtarska, Ordenonostiv, Lysychanska, Popova, Navska, Rostovska, Taganrozka, Pyrohova, Stepna, Seleznivska, Shyroka, Velykodnia, Selianska, Livoberezhna, Verbova, Makiivska, A. Solovianenka, H. Tymofieieva, Kurortna, Sichova, Moldavska, Enerhetykiv, Podolska, Azovska, B. Hrinchenka and Podilska; the Viacheslav Chornovil and Krynychnyi access roads; and Myronivskyi, Karpatskyi, Shakhtarskyi, Burshtynovyi, H. Tymofieieva, Raihorodskyi, Livoberezhnyi, Shyrokyi, A. Solovianenka and Selianskyi lanes.

According to Filashkin, the order has been submitted for approval to the Coordination Headquarters for Evacuation Measures and Effective Response to Mass Population Movement, established by the Cabinet of Ministers.

"Saving lives is the most important thing – especially the lives and health of children, who are unable to make independent decisions and evacuate on their own," Filashkin commented.

Background:

  • Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Law No. 4779-IX concerning the mandatory evacuation of the population, particularly children, from areas of active or potential hostilities.
  • On the morning of 10 March, Russian forces conducted an airstrike on the central part of Sloviansk in Donetsk Oblast, killing four people and injuring 20 others, including a 14-year-old girl.
