Quote: "Over four days this week, from 17 to 20 March 2026, the intensity of the enemy's offensive operations increased. The enemy attempted to break through our forces' defensive lines simultaneously in several strategic directions. Fierce fighting erupted along the entire contact line. In total, the enemy carried out 619 assault actions over these four days."
Details: Syrskyi said the Russians concentrated their main effort on the Pokrovsk and Oleksandrivka fronts, where the highest number of Russian attacks was recorded. Specifically, on the Pokrovsk front, they attacked Ukrainian positions 163 times and, on the Oleksandrivka front, 96 times.
The situation on the Kostiantynivka front remained no less tense, where Russian troops carried out 84 assault actions, as well as on the Ocheretyno, Lyman, and Kupiansk fronts, where a total of over 150 combat engagements took place.
Quote: "Despite immense pressure and the commitment of significant reserves, the Russian command failed to accomplish its objectives. Thanks to the professional, coordinated actions of Ukrainian troops, the enemy's offensive operations were halted in several directions. On some sections of the front, high-intensity fighting continues, but the enemy is being forced to regroup its forces."
Details: Syrskyi reported that the Russians are attempting to bring in fresh units and are preparing to resume their attacks, counting on a deterioration in weather conditions which they assess should reduce the effectiveness of Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance and hinder the operation of Ukrainian drone systems and artillery.
Quote: "The Russian command threw tens of thousands of soldiers into 'meat-grinder assaults'; however, the price of this offensive attempt proved catastrophic for the aggressor. Over four days of intense assault operations, the enemy lost over 6,090 military personnel killed and wounded. Meanwhile, over the course of the week, the enemy's total losses amounted to approximately 8,710 killed and seriously wounded."
More details: Ukraine's defence forces also destroyed a significant amount of military equipment and weaponry belonging to the Russians.
"We were prepared for the increase in the intensity of the Russian horde's onslaught and took the necessary command decisions. Troops received reinforcements and were provided with military equipment, weaponry and ammunition," Syrskyi stated.
