Details: The National Guard of Ukraine will receive modern Ukrainian-made Strila interceptor drones funded by the German government under a recently signed multi-million-euro agreement.
The arrangement also includes training for National Guard units, logistics and further development of unmanned systems.
The Strila interceptor drone is designed to destroy fast and manoeuvrable aerial assets, including Shahed-type combat UAVs.
It was noted that production of the drone will be expanded through joint efforts by German company Quantum Systems and Ukrainian manufacturer WIY Drones, which specialise in developing unmanned systems.
The Strila system is manufactured in Ukraine to ensure rapid delivery to the battlefield, while production is financed by the German government.
Background:
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in February that the Ukrainian forces will receive 10,000 drones this year from the first German-Ukrainian joint venture based in Germany.
- A few days ago, Zelenskyy named the countries with which Ukraine began joint production of Ukrainian weapons, primarily drones. The countries mentioned include the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and France.
