Latvia has begun supplying Ukraine with CVR(T) combat armoured vehicles and deliveries are already underway.

Source: Ukraine's Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov following a meeting with his Latvian counterpart Andris Sprūds

Quote from Fedorov: "Latvia has started handing over batches of CVR(T) combat armoured vehicles to Ukraine. Deliveries are ongoing – the equipment is arriving to reinforce battalion-level units."

Details: Fedorov also said he had held a meeting with Sprūds to discuss the development of joint projects and strengthening defence cooperation.

"The transfer of CVR(T) vehicles enhances the mobility and protection of our troops," Ukraine's defence minister added.

The two ministers also focused on cooperation within the Drone Capability Coalition, of which Latvia is a leading member. The coalition serves as a platform for coordinating efforts, scaling up solutions and sharing combat experience. This covers the development of joint UAV projects, including first-person view (FPV), deep-strike and medium-strike capabilities.

Separately, the ministers discussed expanding cooperation in the defence industry and launching new production facilities and technological solutions.

The key instruments for implementing Ukraine's war plans were also presented – the Drone Line and the basic level of drone support for brigades.

Fedorov thanked Latvia for its consistent support for Ukraine, particularly its decision to allocate 0.25% of GDP annually for assistance, as well as its participation in the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) programme, which enables Kyiv's allies to procure US weapons for Ukraine.

For reference: CVR(T) (Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked)) is a family of UK-made light tracked armoured vehicles developed in the 1960s and 1970s by Alvis for reconnaissance and support roles. It includes variants such as the Scimitar, Spartan and Sultan. Today, support and modernisation of these vehicles are carried out by entities within BAE Systems, particularly Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL).

Background: Earlier it was reported that four Ukrainian defence manufacturers – Culver Aerospace, TENCORE, Remtecnology and Terminal Autonomy Ukraine – signed a package of cooperation documents with companies from Denmark, Finland and Latvia. The value of the agreements is estimated at around €800 million.
