Latvian government approves €6.8 million aid package for Ukraine

Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has announced that the Latvian government has adopted a decision to provide Ukraine with a new aid package.

Details: This aid package of €6.8 million will help strengthen Ukraine's energy grid, shelters, infrastructure and social and civic resilience, as well as drone capabilities, the minister stressed.

"Latvia will always stand with Ukraine," the head of Latvian diplomacy pledged.

Background:

• Following recent incidents involving Ukrainian drones falling on the territory of Baltic states, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania stated that they remain unwavering in their support for Ukraine's defensive operations against Russia. Latvia lodged a protest with a Russian diplomat over a Ukrainian drone.
• Latvian Defence Minister Andris Sprūds, during a visit to Kyiv last week, announced the supply of additional CVR(T) combat reconnaissance armoured personnel carriers.
