Zelenskyy: We are ready for Easter ceasefire and energy ceasefire

Ukraine is willing to agree to a ceasefire during the Easter holidays and an energy ceasefire, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated.

Quote: "We are ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays. In my view, to be honest, normal people who respect life talk about a ceasefire and ending the war for life, not for a few days. But we are, of course, ready for any compromises, except compromises with our dignity and sovereignty."

Details: Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine supports any ceasefire formats and the end of the war in general, providing "you do not lose the dignity and independence of the state".

Quote: "We are ready to talk about any kind of ceasefire... a full ceasefire. A ceasefire on energy. A ceasefire on food security and energy, meaning at sea and in the air. Completely – so that neither missiles nor drones fly. No strikes on infrastructure. We have proposed all of this. And we are open to it. If the Russians are ready, then please, we are ready. Let them propose it for any period of time – we are ready to resolve this issue."

Asked whether Russia might use such a ceasefire to strengthen its positions, Zelenskyy expressed confidence that "they won't be able to strengthen anything in two or three days".

"As we remember, they promised to do something in three days and failed," the president concluded, alluding to the Russian propaganda claim in February 2022 that their forces would be able to "take Kyiv in three days".
