Zelenskyy explains how Ukraine is preparing for new Russian strikes on railways and water supply
Ukraine is working to strengthen the protection of railways and water infrastructure – bridges, dams, hydroelectric power stations, pumping stations and more, which, according to intelligence data, Russia is planning to target in their future strikes.

Quote: "Judging by the documents we have received from the intelligence, the Russians will strike logistics – railways and other targets. They will also strike the water supply. All of this must be and is already being worked through by the Armed Forces of Ukraine together with local authorities. This concerns serious infrastructure – bridges, dams, hydroelectric power stations, as well as pumping stations, drinking water supply and so on. We need to prepare for this in the same way as we are now preparing to protect the energy sector."
Details: Zelenskyy reported that the Air Force is already working on strengthening air defence and on the relevant integration of systems. He says that additional physical protection is still needed in some areas.
"All regional authorities and hromadas must be involved in the relevant preparation. In every village and city, heads and mayors must be engaged in this. They must know what is most critical for them – without which there will be no sewage system or no drinking water. Maximum protection is needed," the president stressed. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]
The head of state noted that the Russians had hoped to break Ukraine this winter, but had also exhausted their own missile and drone resources.
Quote: "We must be honest: it was very difficult for us, because they persistently struck us, destroying our heating and electricity generation capacity. And although their energy operation is still ongoing, they are somewhat depleted in terms of the number of missiles and drones. So they understand that in spring and summer they will no longer have such a strong impact."
Background: In his evening address on 25 March, Zelenskyy reported that Russia is preparing an operation against Ukraine's water supply systems in the coming months.
