Ukraine develops automated artillery fire control system KRIP-A

A Ukrainian company, Antabos, has unveiled the KRIP-A, a system enabling remote artillery fire control.

Details: The system integrates reconnaissance, command and direct control of howitzers at positions into a single network, enabling real-time data transmission and faster, more efficient coordination between units.
The system automates artillery fire preparation and control, allows for battlefield monitoring and supports the planning of fire and reconnaissance tasks at command posts, which can then be transmitted to units. It also enables military command to monitor firing positions and the progress of tasks.
The integration of various command and situational awareness elements into a single system reduces the time required to prepare for firing and shortens the interval between target detection and opening fire.
The developer says the system can reduce ammunition consumption: the number of shots required for sighting-in is reduced by several times, and overall costs to hit targets decrease by about 30%.
According to Antabos, the system features automatic processing of data from various battlefield sensors, calculation of firing parameters, reduced artillery deployment time, resilience to electronic warfare and the availability of secure communications. It has been developed in line with C4ISR principles and is compatible with similar solutions used by NATO countries, the developer said.

KRIP-A is already in use on certain types of Ukrainian artillery, including the 155mm Bohdana self-propelled artillery system, and has also been integrated with multiple-launch rocket systems such as the RM-70. The developer says it can be adapted for both Soviet-era and Western artillery systems.
In the future, the company plans to further develop the system towards greater automation and its use in ground robotic systems, in particular to reduce the need for personnel in artillery operations.
