Details: Fire Point is in talks with European companies to develop the system by next year. The project is intended to produce a low-cost alternative to the US-made Patriot system, which could cut the cost of intercepting a ballistic missile to under US$1 million.

"If we can decrease it to less than US$1 million, it will be [...] a game changer in air defence solutions. We plan to intercept the first ballistic missile at the end of 2027," Shtilerman said in the interview.

The Fire Point co-founder did not name the European companies involved in the project, but said the Ukrainian manufacturer is particularly interested in cooperation in radar technology, missile guidance systems and communications systems. He highlighted good radar solutions from European companies such as Weibel, Hensoldt, Saab and Thales Group.

Background: Ukrainska Pravda reported earlier that in March, Ukrainian defence manufacturers signed agreements with the Spanish group Sener to establish cooperation in the missile and air defence sectors. Among the Ukrainian companies that signed the agreement were Fire Point, Luch Design Bureau and Radionix.
