Sloviansk thermal power plant halts operations after Russian attacks

The Sloviansk Thermal Power Plant (TPP), located in the city of Mykolaivka near Sloviansk in Donetsk Oblast, halted operations on 6 April as a result of Russian attacks.

Details: DTEK Group expressed its sympathy to colleagues at Donbasenergo, the major Ukrainian power producer that owns the Sloviansk TPP.

Quote: "We know all too well the pain of seeing your home company stop. Two years ago, we had to say goodbye in the same way to our Kurakhove TPP. But the most important thing is to save lives."

Background:

• Three employees of the Sloviansk TPP were killed after Russian forces launched a drone attack on their vehicle on the morning of 17 February.
• In March, work began in Sloviansk to dismantle the trolleybus contact network in order to install anti-drone nets, and trolleybuses were temporarily taken out of the city.
• On 31 March, Russian forces struck railway infrastructure in Sloviansk, Donetsk Oblast.
