Zelenskyy's top aide says strikes on Russian oil terminals have strengthened Ukraine's negotiating position

Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the President's Office, has stated during a briefing at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities that Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil terminals are having an impact on the negotiating process and he expects to hear "much that is new" from the Russians at the next round of talks.

Quote: "At the next negotiations with them [the Russians – ed.], I think we will hear a great deal that is new. In any case, this significantly strengthens our position and does not, so to speak, weaken it."
Details: Budanov said Ukraine must do everything possible to strengthen its "winning position". "And any means of achieving the goal are justified and right," he stated.
Background:
- On 6 April, it was reported that Special Operations Centre Alpha (part of the Security Service of Ukraine), working together with Ukraine's defence forces, was behind a strike on the Sheskharis oil-loading terminal at the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk on the night of 5-6 April.
- On 7 April, Ukraine's General Staff reported that the Ust-Luga oil terminal in Russia's Leningrad Oblast had been damaged as a result of a Ukrainian defence forces attack.
