Russians have violated "Easter truce" nearly 500 times since its start – Ukraine's General Staff

Ukraine's General Staff has reported that 469 violations of the ceasefire regime by Russian forces have been recorded since 16:00 Kyiv time, when the truce was due to take effect.

Quote: "Since 16:00, 469 violations of the ceasefire regime have been recorded. In particular: 22 enemy assault actions, 153 strikes, 19 kamikaze drone attacks (Lancet and Molniya-type) and 275 first-person view (FPV) drone strikes."
Details: In total, 101 combat clashes have taken place since the start of the day.
Background:
- At about 16:00 on 11 April, Kremlin-aligned Russian news agencies said the "Easter truce" declared by Russia has come into effect and will last until the end of 12 April, the day of Orthodox Easter celebrations.
- Ukraine's General Staff said the defence forces will observe a ceasefire on land, at sea and in the air during Orthodox Easter but will respond in kind to Russia's actions.
- In his evening address on 11 April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made no mention of ceasefire violations by Russian forces. Instead, he said Ukraine has proposed to Russia that the ceasefire be extended beyond Easter.
