Five people killed, including child, in Russian attack on Kyiv – photos

Five people, including a child, have been killed and 21 injured in Russian strikes on the city of Kyiv on the night of 15-16 April. Damage has been recorded in the Podilskyi, Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Desnianskyi districts.

Details: Two people were killed and six injured in the Obolonskyi district, where parked cars caught fire following the attack. A warehouse building, a tyre repair shop and a store were damaged. Four ambulance workers and two police officers who had arrived at the scene were injured.

Two killed, including a 12-year-old child, were found under the rubble of the facade of a residential building in the Podilskyi district. A strike on an open area there caused damage to nearby apartments. Three people got cut by glass at this location.

The emergency service did not specify where the fifth person had been killed.

Another strike in the Podilskyi district hit an area in front of residential buildings, damaging facades and blocking entrances to some of them. Three people were injured there.

The facades of two hotels and nearby buildings were damaged at another location in the same district. Two people were injured.

A single-storey house was destroyed at another address. Two people, including a child, were rescued from under the rubble.

A strike hit the fifth floor of a 16-storey residential building in a separate incident. Rescue workers evacuated 10 people. No fire broke out and no injuries were reported.

A fire broke out in a two-storey residential building in the Desnianskyi district.

Strikes were recorded on a children's playground and near a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

Background: Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles on the night of 15-16 April. Explosions were heard in Kyiv and fires broke out there. Early reports said that a child and a woman had been killed and several people had been injured, including medics who had responded to an emergency call.
