US extends ban on Russian ships docking in its ports for another year

US President Donald Trump has extended the state of national emergency imposed over the threat posed by Russia, which restricts the movement and docking of Russian-linked vessels in US ports, for another year.

Details: The notice says that the measure had first been introduced by former US President Joe Biden on 21 April 2022. He also authorised the Secretary of Homeland Security to regulate the docking and movement of vessels connected to Russia.

Quote: "The policies and actions of the Government of the Russian Federation continue to constitute a national emergency by reason of a disturbance or threatened disturbance of international relations of the United States."

Details: In view of this, Trump has extended for one year the "national emergency with respect to the Russian Federation and the emergency authority relating to the regulation of the anchorage and movement of Russian-affiliated vessels to United States ports".
