Russian forces launch Iskander missile and 172 drones, Ukrainian air defence intercepts 147 UAVs
Russian forces have attacked Ukraine with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 172 drones since the evening of 16 April. Ukrainian air defence has destroyed or jammed 147 UAVs, while strikes from the missile and 20 drones have been recorded at eight locations.

Quote: "As of 08:00, [Ukrainian] air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 114714 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones in the country's north, south and east.
Hits by 1 ballistic missile and 20 UAVs had been recorded at 8 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at 4 locations."
Details: The Iskander-M ballistic missile was launched from temporarily occupied Crimea, while the drones came from the Russian cities of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk as well as from Hvardiiske in Crimea. About 120 of the UAVs were Shahed loitering munitions.
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.
As of 08:00, the attack is ongoing.
Background: Russian forces conducted strikes on critical infrastructure in the city of Chernihiv on the night of 16-17 April, causing fires and leaving around 6,000 residents without electricity.
