Zelenskyy estimates how much Russia could gain from easing US oil sanctions
Russia could receive about US$10 billion as a result of the easing of US sanctions on Russian oil, funds that would be used to continue the war against Ukraine.

Details: Zelenskyy said more than 110 tankers belonging to Russia's shadow fleet are currently at sea carrying over 12 million tonnes of Russian oil. He stressed that these volumes could once again be sold without consequences due to the easing of sanctions.
"Every dollar paid for Russian oil is money for the war," the president said. Zelenskyy added that this resource is directly converted into new strikes on Ukraine.
He stressed that Russian tankers should be stopped rather than allowed to deliver oil to ports.
Background:
- On 17 April, the US suspended sanctions restrictions for 30 days on the purchase of Russian oil and petroleum products transported by sea, despite earlier public assurances that the relevant licences would not be renewed.
- Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine's Ambassador to the US, has called on the US administration to reinstate sanctions restricting trade in Russian oil.
