Quote: "The situation in Hryshyne is escalating. The enemy has intensified pressure on the settlement and is trying to expand its offensive.

Ukrainian troops are preventing the enemy from gaining a foothold in the central part of the settlement."

Details: The Corps reported that in recent days, Ukraine's defence forces carried out an operation to destroy a staging point for Russian troops, conducting an airstrike on the area where they were concentrated.

As a result of the strike, at least three Russian soldiers were confirmed killed. According to available data, some Russian soldiers remain trapped under the rubble in a basement with no possibility of rescue.

Meanwhile, Russian forces are continuing to press from the south and are attempting to bypass Hryshyne across open terrain and forested areas in order to entrench themselves on the northern and north-western outskirts.

For reference: Hryshyne is a village in the Pokrovsk hromada, the Pokrovsk district, Donetsk Oblast. It is part of the Hryshyne local governance area covering nearby settlements and is situated near Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Novooleksandrivka and Myrne. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Previously: Sources among military personnel on the Pokrovsk front told Ukrainska Pravda that Russian forces have almost completely taken over Myrnohrad in Donetsk Oblast and have fully deployed their artillery and UAV operator infrastructure there. Despite this, Ukrainian forces continue to hold positions on the northern outskirts of the city.

Background:

  • In March, DeepState, a Ukrainian group of military analysts, reported on social media that Russian forces had advanced deeper into Ukrainian territory in Hryshyne.
  • Later, Stanislav Luchanov, the newly appointed commander of the 155th Separate Mechanised Brigade, stated that despite regular Russian infiltration, his brigade maintains control over Hryshyne.
  • DeepState analysts also suggested that the occupation of Hryshyne near Pokrovsk could be only a matter of time. Meanwhile, the 7th Air Assault Corps says that Russian forces are attacking the village head-on, but Ukrainian troops are holding back their advance.
  • Subsequently, the 7th Corps and DeepState analysts reported that Russian troops had made advances in Hryshyne on the Pokrovsk front.
