Ukraine invites US companies to help recover gas infrastructure

Ukraine considers it important that Ukraine and the United States develop cooperation in the energy sector, particularly through joint projects with the state-owned Naftogaz Group.

Details: The sides discussed the restructuring of Ukraine's energy system and preparations for the period of peak electricity consumption in summer.
Quote from Svyrydenko: "We invite American companies to partner with us in restoring gas infrastructure damaged by attacks, as well as to explore long-term cooperation in modernising Ukraine's oil and gas sector."
Details: Some of the relevant projects are already under consideration by the US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund (URIF), which will soon mark its anniversary.
Background: Ukraine has discussed the possibility of securing US$1.4 billion in loan assistance from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to modernise energy equipment, including in the gas production sector, and to strengthen cooperation with the US Export-Import Bank.
