Details: Trump's approval rating has fallen to 37%, while his disapproval rating of 62% is a record high across both of his presidential terms.

The poll shows that two-thirds of Americans believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.

Trump's overall approval rating is being supported by his party's voters. As many as 85% of Republicans approve of Trump and that figure has changed little during his second term.

However, the proportion of Republicans who strongly approve of Trump has declined. Currently, 45% of Republicans strongly approve of Trump, down from 53% in September and the lowest figure among Republicans across both terms.

Among MAGA Republicans, overall approval stands at 95%, including 61% who strongly approve. Overall approval among non-MAGA Republicans falls to 64%, with only 13% approving strongly.

Trump's approval rating among independent voters has fallen to a record low across both terms. Only 25% approve of his overall performance, down from 30% in October and lower than during his first term.

Background:

  • A total of 61% of Americans believe the US administration's decision to launch a military operation against Iran was wrong, comparable to the levels of disapproval seen for the wars in Iraq and Vietnam.
  • More than half of Americans also believe the current Trump administration's policies are more likely to harm the country's economy, while an even larger share view the economic situation negatively.
