Details: Kobakhidze did not disclose details of what was discussed during the meeting with Zelenskyy.
"I cannot say anything about the contents, as it was a closed-door meeting, but overall I can say that the conversation between us was friendly and interesting," he noted.
Kobakhidze added that the meeting was initiated by Zelenskyy.
Quote: "The president himself put forward this proposal, we immediately confirmed our readiness and discussed bilateral relations... Ukraine is a friendly country to us; we have a traditional historical friendship linking our countries and our peoples, and we must preserve this as much as possible. This is the spirit I shared with the president, but I cannot speak about the details."
Background:
- The first meeting between Zelenskyy and Kobakhidze took place on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan.
- In 2024, Kobakhidze and a number of other members of the Georgian ruling party came under 10-year sanctions from Ukraine.
- Relations between Kyiv and Tbilisi have been extremely challenging in recent years, partly because of the ruling Georgian Dream party's position on the Russo-Ukrainian war and its repeated accusations concerning alleged plans to "turn Georgia into a second front".
