Details: The operation was carried out in April 2026. DIU operatives identified and struck Russian assets associated with amphibious assault capabilities, naval support and aviation elements.
DIU drone operators struck:
- three Project 05060 assault landing boats
- a support vessel
- a hangar for Project 05060 landing craft
- a Be-12 Chaika anti-submarine amphibious aircraft.
"A separate episode was the aircraft's evasion of an enemy MANPADS. Despite attempts by the Muscovites to disrupt the mission, DIU operators continued the operation and achieved another significant result, weakening the Russian occupation army," DIU said.
For reference: According to open sources, the Be-12 Chaika measures over 30 metres in length and has a wingspan of 29.84 metres. It can reach speeds of up to 530 km/h and made its first flight in autumn 1960. The amphibious Be-12 aircraft are equipped for detecting and engaging submarines.
Background: In September 2025, DIU drone pilots reportedly struck two Russian Be-12 Chaika anti-submarine amphibious aircraft in temporarily occupied Crimea for the first time.
