Source: Dmytro Lytvyn, adviser to the Ukrainian president, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Lytvyn confirmed a report by Reuters stating that Umierov was already en route.
He added that more information will be provided shortly.
Background:
- Earlier, unofficial reports suggested that Umierov would travel to Miami this week for talks with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Anonymous sources, including a White House representative, declined to provide details of the meeting's agenda.
- Negotiations on the Russo-Ukrainian war have virtually ground to a halt since the US and Israel began their military campaign against Iran. An anticipated visit to Kyiv by Trump's negotiators "after Orthodox Easter" never took place.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated at the end of April that Ukraine is ready for another round of peace talks with Russia in a trilateral format.
