Zelenskyy on some foreign leaders' plans to attend Moscow parade: We don't recommend it
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has described the fact that representatives of some states wish to travel to Moscow to attend the Victory Day parade as "strange", noting that Ukraine "does not recommend" visiting.

Quote: "Ukraine proposed a ceasefire to Russia – and this is far from the first such proposal. This time it was a ceasefire starting from 6 May. Ukraine was ready to ensure complete silence, but in response to this peaceful proposal of ours there have only been new Russian strikes and new threats from Russia."
Details: Zelenskyy says Russia "wants permission to hold their parade, to come out to the square safely for an hour once a year, and then to go on killing our people and waging war".
"The Russians are already talking about strikes after 9 May. The strange and clearly insane logic of the Russian leadership. We have also received communications from some states close to Russia saying that their representatives intend to be in Moscow. A strange desire... at this time. We don't recommend it," Zelenskyy stated.
Background:
- Zelenskyy stated that Russia violated the ceasefire introduced by Kyiv from the beginning of 6 May. He subsequently promised to respond in kind.
- On 4 May, Zelenskyy announced a ceasefire starting from 00:00 on the night of 5-6 May. Russia did not respond in any way and continued its attacks on Ukraine.
- Earlier on 4 May, Russia's Ministry of Defence unilaterally declared a "truce" for 8 and 9 May and warned that if the Victory Day parade in Moscow on 9 May is "disrupted", it will launch a large-scale missile strike on central Kyiv.
