The EU loan provides for €60 billion out of the €90 billion to be spent on supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This amount will be divided equally over two years, with €30 billion allocated for 2026 and €30 billion for 2027.

As previously reported, the first product procurement schedule in 2026 will be worth around €6 billion, or €5.9 billion precisely, and will be spent on drones manufactured in Ukraine.

European Pravda's sources said 2.8 million drones will be purchased under the first tranche, meaning the average cost of one drone will be around €2,000.

The second product schedule is also expected to cover drones, with another approximately €6 billion allocated for them. This tranche will also involve the procurement of drones capable of long-range strikes.

Ammunition is also planned to be purchased using funds from the EU loan.

Two more product schedules will be assigned for the procurement of missiles, long-range strike missiles and air defence systems.

The European Commission expects Ukraine to submit four product schedules for approval as early as May 2026. They will then be discussed at expert level and approved by the European side.

The need to submit the product schedules as early as possible is linked to both sides' desire to move quickly to signing contracts so that the necessary weapons, equipment and ammunition can reach Ukraine as soon as possible.

European Pravda's sources said the current problem in planning is Ukraine's desire to make purchases mainly either from Ukrainian manufacturers or outside the EU, while the European Union expects contracts to go to Ukrainian and European manufacturers, with a few exceptions.
