Kremlin says it has agreed to Trump initiative to extend truce until 11 May
Russia has agreed to support US President Donald Trump's initiative to extend the ceasefire with Ukraine until 11 May and to carry out a prisoner exchange.

Details: Ushakov said agreements on extending the ceasefire and conducting a 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange were reached during phone conversations with the US president's administration.
The aide added that Trump's initiative regarding the ceasefire and prisoner exchange was timed to coincide with Victory Day. [Victory Day is a Russian holiday commemorating the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945, celebrated on 9 May – ed.]

- On 8 May, Trump announced a three-day truce in the war between Ukraine and Russia.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later announced a 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange scheduled for 9 May and confirmed the 9-11 May ceasefire with Russia.
