Ukrainian defence company Tencore is working with another manufacturer to develop an electric motor for unmanned ground vehicles (UGV).

Quote: "Our goal was not to copy, but to develop motors specifically for UGVs that will be more efficient than Chinese motors. Ukrainian motors will be installed on our products; and not only ours."

Details: Vasylchenko said the electric motor for UGVs is being developed jointly with a partner company. The engine has already undergone laboratory testing and field trials have begun.

Quote: "We are now making a few more motors to install on other products and after that we will scale up, so to speak, in the right direction."

More details: The company has also developed its own electronics for UGVs, including to avoid using flight controllers from China. Tencore engineers have created circuit boards and relays and are also working on motor drivers.

Background:

  • It was reported earlier that Ratel, a Ukrainian manufacturer of ground robotic systems, has begun installing Ukrainian-made engines in its combat and logistics robots.
  • In March, Tencore also presented several updates for the TerMIT UGV, including a thermal imaging camera to supplement night optics, and added new modules for engineering missions, namely the Yehoza and a mine-laying system.
