Lukashenko's regime is claiming daily attempts by Ukrainian drones to cross the Belarusian border. Ukrainian border guards have described the allegations made by Russia's ally as absurd.

Source: Alexander Volfovich, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council, as reported by BelTA, Belarusian state-owned news outlet; Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda

Quote from Volfovich: "On a daily basis our air defence forces register regular crossings of the Belarus-Ukraine border by combat drones, as well as their crash landings on our territory. In some instances, these are not accidental strikes but deliberate efforts to target border infrastructure, masked as stray incursions. In just the last week alone, there were 116 such incidents."

Details: The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said this is another attempt by Belarus to accuse Ukraine of wrongdoing and shift responsibility.

Quote from Demchenko: "There have been many absurd statements about the situation in Ukraine and claims that their air defence systems detect regular crossings of the border from our country by combat drones every day. They have 'counted' 116 drones in the past week alone. My question is: how much restraint must they have shown to stay silent about such Ukrainian 'provocations' for so long? And apparently their air defence systems can detect only Ukrainian assets, because for some reason they do not detect what flies into Ukraine from Belarus."

Why this matters: Russian forces are known to use Belarus and a number of neighbouring countries for the transit of their strike drones towards Ukraine.

Certain relay stations are also present on Belarusian territory that may assist Russian forces in controlling their drones.
