Russia can launch up to 100 ballistic missiles against Ukraine per month, Ukrainian intelligence says

Russia is capable of launching up to 100 ballistic missiles per month while maintaining stockpiles at a stable level.
Source: Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) in response to an enquiry from Ukrainska Pravda
Details: In light of Russia's recent large-scale attacks involving significant numbers of ballistic missiles, Ukrainska Pravda asked DIU for information on Russia's ballistic missile production volumes.
According to DIU, Russia's military-industrial complex plans to deliver up to 700 9M723 ballistic missiles for the Iskander operational-tactical missile system in 2026, the same number as last year. Monthly production rates remain at 55-60 missiles.
In addition, the Russians have more than doubled production of RM-48U missiles for S-300PM and S-400 air defence systems, which they use to strike ground targets. Over 480 such missiles are planned to be delivered in 2026, compared with more than 200 in 2025. The current monthly production rate is up to 50 missiles.
Russia also plans to produce up to 60 Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missiles this year.
Quote: "Given these ballistic missile production rates, the enemy can launch up to 100 such missiles per month against targets on Ukrainian territory while maintaining a stable level of stockpiles."
Background:
- During an address at a NATO-Ukraine Council meeting in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia has the capacity to produce around 120 ballistic missiles per month. This figure refers only to ballistic missiles.
- The president noted that in just one large-scale attack on 2 June 2026, the Russians killed 23 people in Ukraine.
- Ukraine has repeatedly emphasised that Russian ballistic missiles are still one of the greatest threats in the war. Ukraine is in urgent need of air defence systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
