Details: The armoured vehicle was developed and manufactured by the Ukrainian company MAC HUB in cooperation with the European company Paramount Greece. In different configurations, Sova weighs between 14.2 and 15 tonnes and is equipped with an 8.9-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 450 horsepower.
"The armoured vehicle has a ground clearance of 45 cm, comparable to that of heavy military trucks. Meanwhile, the total height of the vehicle does not exceed 2.8 m. The cabin accommodates a crew of two and six or eight troops. It is designed to install up to 10 electronic warfare modules, providing full dome protection against FPV kamikaze drones," Ukraine's Defence Ministry explained.
The MAC OWL Sova belongs to the MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected) class and features a load-bearing armoured hull with a V-shaped bottom. According to the Ministry of Defence, the vehicle can protect its crew in the event of a mine detonation equivalent to up to 10 kg of TNT, in line with STANAG 4569 standards. It is also equipped with special shock-absorbing seats, inertia components and reinforced assemblies.
"Meanwhile, the vehicle has 16 mm side armour – the thickest among domestic and foreign analogues," the ministry stated.
The codified armoured vehicle also features an independent hydropneumatic suspension and a rear folding ramp with a servo drive for troop deployment.
