Russian authorities in occupied Crimea have temporarily suspended passenger train services on the peninsula following a drone strike on a diesel locomotive.

Details: Oleh Kriuchkov, an adviser to the head of Crimea, stated that a Ukrainian drone attacked a Moscow-Simferopol train during the night.

He claims the assistant locomotive driver was killed and the driver injured, while passengers were unharmed. Ukrainian and Russian military officials have not commented on the drone strike on the train.

As a result, some buses in Kerch, Simferopol, Feodosiia and the settlement of Radianskyi have been taken off their routes and redirected to carry passengers.

Grand Service Express announced that trains from Crimea to Russia will begin running from Kerch, while passengers travelling to Kerch will do so by bus. Buses are being filled and dispatched as passengers arrive, in order of the train timetable.

  • On 2 June, Dzhankoi railway station was temporarily closed for passenger boarding and alighting until further notice.
  • Petrol sales in Crimea were fully restricted "for several days", with fuel remaining available only to those holding previously purchased vouchers, though officials at each petrol station are monitoring whether anyone has refuelled in excess of their allowance.
