The building of the House of Organ and Chamber Music in Dnipro and its unique organ have been damaged as a result of a Russian attack.
Source: Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council
Details: Lukashuk reported that the organ was specially manufactured by the German company Sauer and installed in 1985.
"More than 2,000 pipes, dozens of registers, a unique sound that for decades filled halls to capacity and was well known to many generations of Dnipro residents," Mykola Lukashuk wrote.
In comments to Suspilne Dnipro, Anton Cherneta, the institution's director, said the building's dome had been damaged, along with sheets of gold-plated material. The stained-glass windows were almost completely destroyed. He added that no concerts will be able to take place until the institution is fully repaired.
The House of Organ and Chamber Music belongs to the Holy St Nicholas Church. It is a national architectural monument. The building was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century. Its first concert season opened in 1987.
