Quote from Smilianskyi: "Once again, Nikopol, and once again the enemy has hit our mobile post office. But this time, unfortunately, our driver was injured, the same as yesterday in Zaporizhzhia."
Details: On 16 June, the Russians destroyed two vehicles in Nikopol and attacked another one in the oblast.
"Today, an enemy FPV drone struck a vehicle of the 61st mobile post office in Nikopol. This happened right as it was leaving its base point," Smilianskyi said.
The driver suffered a leg injury; his life is not in danger. He is currently under medical supervision and receiving all necessary care.
"This is further proof of the extremely difficult conditions in which our teams have to work in border and frontline areas," the head of Ukrposhta stressed.
Background:
- It was previously reported that the company had lost 425 vehicles since the beginning of the full-scale war.
- Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukrposhta had lost 418 vehicles by February 2026, 281 of which were lost in 2022 during the temporary occupation of Ukrainian territories.
- On the night of 7-8 June, a Russian Shahed drone hit an Ukrposhta sorting hub in Kharkiv: the operator temporarily changed its processing and delivery route and was working under a backup system.
- The estimated losses from the Russian strike on the Kharkiv hub amount to over UAH 11 million (US$245,000), with more than UAH 1 million (US$22,300) of that amount to be paid out in compensation for destroyed parcels.
