Details: The Moscow oil refinery is located in the south-east of the city, in the Kapotnya district, and is considered one of the key facilities supplying fuel to Moscow and Moscow Oblast.
Residents have been complaining en masse on local social media groups and chats that they received no warnings about the large-scale drone attack. They are also posting photos and videos of black stains after rain. This "oil rain" has been spotted in the suburban town of Lyubertsy and in Moscow's Zheleznodorozhny district.

Background:
- On the night of 17-18 June, Ukrainian drones penetrated Moscow's layered air defence and struck the Moscow oil refinery in Kapotnya, causing a major fire.
- Russian media outlets are calling this the largest attack in the past two years. It is the second successful strike on a strategic Russian facility in three days.
- On 15 June, Russia carried out yet another large-scale combined attack on Kyiv. This time, the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (the Monastery of the Caves) was struck. A Shahed drone hit the monastery, causing a major fire in the main church – the Dormition Cathedral – which spread across 800 sq m of the roof.
- While inspecting the damage at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed that there would be a response to this massive Russian attack.
