Tomasz Siemoniak, Poland's Minister-Coordinator of Special Services, has said that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the right call in deciding not to attend the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk.

Details: Siemoniak was commenting on remarks by Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Office at the Chancellery of the President of Poland, who claimed that Zelenskyy's decision not to attend the conference made Prime Minister Donald Tusk look ridiculous.

Quote from Siemoniak: "I don't like these remarks by Minister Przydacz. If someone is the President's chief diplomat, they should abide by certain rules. This isn't some sort of backyard ping-pong match. A month ago, of course, the response would have been: 'It's a shame President Zelenskyy isn't here; he should have been.' Today, as Prime Minister Donald Tusk said yesterday, given all the circumstances, it's a good decision to reduce tensions."

More details: Siemoniak added that Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, whom he described as a very important person in Ukraine, will attend the conference.

Siemoniak explained that there would be no tensions associated with President Zelenskyy's presence. He added that the issue of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and other historical matters would have dominated the conference because journalists would have questioned Zelenskyy about them in detail at every opportunity.
