Russians hit Kherson with aerial bombs: five injured, part of city left without power

The Russians launched three airstrikes on the city of Kherson on 26 June, dropping at least seven guided aerial bombs. Five people have been injured as a result of the strikes. The attacks also damaged energy infrastructure facilities, leaving the Central district of the city without electricity.

Details: The oblast authorities reported that at around 11:00, a 75-year-old woman who was in a car at the time of the Russian airstrike sustained a blast injury and her arm was torn off. She was taken to hospital, where medics are providing her with treatment.

Later another casualty was reported. A 57-year-old man was taken to hospital with a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to his arm. He is under medical supervision.

Yaroslav Shanko, the head of the city's military administration, said that energy infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of the airstrike. The Central district has been temporarily left without power.

Quote from Shanko: "Specialised personnel are currently inspecting the damaged equipment, assessing the scope of the necessary emergency repair works and doing everything possible to restore electricity to Kherson residents' homes as quickly as possible.

Please remain calm, and I ask for your understanding regarding the temporary inconvenience. Invincibility centres are available if needed." [An invincibility centre is stocked with food and power banks to help people facing hardships due to power cuts – ed.]

Update: Kherson Oblast Military Administration later reported that the number of people injured in the Russian airstrike on Kherson has risen to three.

A 64-year-old man was taken to hospital with a blast injury, concussion and shrapnel wounds to his leg. He was given medical assistance and will receive outpatient treatment.

Shanko also said that based on information from Kherson's defence forces, Russian forces carried out three airstrikes on the city using at least seven guided aerial bombs.

At 13:31, Kherson Oblast Military Administration said that the number injured in the Russian airstrikes on Kherson has risen to five.

Two utility workers – a woman of 51 and a man of 65 – are reported to have sustained injuries at about 11:00. They have been diagnosed with concussion, blast injuries and shock.

After receiving medical assistance, they were prescribed outpatient treatment.
