Russian attack on Kyiv kills 11, injures almost 60 and damages 30 residential buildings – photos

Eleven people have been killed and almost 60 injured, including two children, in a Russian attack on the city of Kyiv on the night of 5-6 July. About 30 residential buildings have been damaged or destroyed.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "As of now [10:00], 64 people have been rescued, including two children. At this point, we know that, tragically, 11 people have been killed in the attack. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Around 60 others have been injured."

The epicentre of the strikes and falling Russian missile and drone debris was in Kyiv's Darnytskyi and Podilskyi districts. Damage was also recorded in the Holosiivskyi and Obolonskyi districts.

Apartments from the fourth to the eighth floor of a residential building in the Podilskyi district were destroyed.

A fire broke out and apartments from the first to the fourth floor of a 25-storey residential building were destroyed in the Darnytskyi district. Apartments in a 30-storey tower block in another residential complex caught fire after being struck by falling debris.

The final number of people killed and injured is still being established.

Details: The State Emergency Service said rescue operations are ongoing at the site in the Podilskyi district where a nine-storey residential building had been hit, causing floors eight to four to collapse. Rescue workers are searching for people trapped under the rubble, while psychologists are providing help at the scene.

Emergency crews are also continuing to deal with the aftermath of strikes on residential buildings at other locations in the Podilskyi, Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts.

Firefighters are continuing to extinguish a blaze at warehouse buildings in the Obolonskyi district.

Ihor Klymenko said that about 30 residential buildings were damaged in Kyiv.
