The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) has honoured three Ukrainians on its 2026 Honour List – Dara Kornii, Oleksandr Shatokhin and Bozhena Antonyak.

Details: The 2026 IBBY Honour List features 191 nominations from 59 countries in 52 languages, covering 76 works in the Writing category, 58 in Illustration and 57 in Translation – making it the most extensive in the programme's history.

The IBBY Honour List has been published biennially since 1956.

In the Writing category, Dara Kornii was recognised for the book Why the Fern Blooms, illustrated by Nataliia Shmorhun, published by Ranok Publishing House.

In the Illustration category, Oleksandr Shatokhin was recognised for his work on Narwhals Don't Cry, with text by Oleksandr Podoliak, published by Krokus.

In the Translation category, Bozhena Antonyak was recognised for her translation of Polish author Joanna Jagiełło's Name Day. The Ukrainian edition was published by Urbino.
