Russian attack on Kyiv damages 42 PESA tram carriages

A Russian attack on Kyiv has damaged 42 trams manufactured by Polish company PESA at one of the city's depots. Bus services are temporarily replacing the affected tram routes.

Details: Kyiv City Military Administration said a working group made up of employees from all of the city's depots has been formed to repair the damaged rolling stock as quickly as possible.

The damaged tram carriages are expected to be repaired within approximately one week.

For the time being, tram routes are being replaced by bus services.

Background:

  • Residents of Kyiv heard explosions on the night of 7-8 July, after which an air-raid warning was issued. One person was confirmed killed and two were injured.
  • A missile strike caused a fire in warehouse buildings in Kyiv's Desnianskyi district.
  • Fires broke out in an office building and warehouse facilities in the capital's Sviatoshynskyi district. A garage cooperative caught fire at another location, but firefighters extinguished the blaze. The attack also damaged another office building and trams.
