Meloni also confirmed that Italy will continue to provide assistance to the Ukrainian people, focusing on measures to strengthen the resilience of energy infrastructure, which has been severely damaged by Russian attacks.

Zelenskyy, for his part, noted that he has briefed Meloni on the situation in Ukraine, including Russian ballistic missile strikes.

"We discussed the prospects for our joint work in Europe on anti-ballistic capabilities to provide greater protection for everyone – both Ukraine and every country. We spoke about the need for additional interceptors and we are counting very much on support," he said.

Background: Zelenskyy's Office also announced that a meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump will take place on 8 July. One hour has been allocated for the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting in the NATO summit programme.
