Russia hits residential building in Donetsk Oblast: two bodies retrieved from rubble – photos

Russian forces attacked the settlement of Shabelkivka in the Kramatorsk hromada in Donetsk Oblast on the night of 9-10 July, destroying a residential building under the rubble of which people were killed. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Details: During emergency search and rescue operations, first responders found and retrieved the bodies of two people.

In total, rescue workers cleared two tonnes of the rubble. Operations have now been completed.

In addition, another residential building, a garage and three cars caught fire as a result of the strike. Firefighters swiftly extinguished all fires across a total area of 136 sq m.

Update: Kramatorsk City Council later reported that at around 03:54, Russian forces dropped three FAB-250 guided aerial bombs fitted with UMPK munition guidance kits on the city's private residential area. [A UMPK is a guidance kit for converting unguided bombs into precision-guided munitions – ed.]

The people were asleep in their home when the strike occurred. Two Kramatorsk residents were killed in the attack: a 44-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman.

After extinguishing the fire, first responders recovered their bodies from beneath the rubble.

In total, the Russian strike damaged 22 houses. Three vehicles were damaged and another three were destroyed.
