Zelenskyy discusses Ukraine's air defence needs and sanctions against Russia with US Senator Graham

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has met US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham in Kyiv to discuss strengthening Ukraine's air defence and progress on a Russia sanctions bill in the US Congress.

Details: Zelenskyy noted that this was Graham's tenth visit to Ukraine.

The president briefed the senator on Ukraine's air defence needs, and the two also discussed work in Congress on a bill of sanctions against Russia.

Quote: "I'm grateful to Lindsey for recognising our warriors. The stronger Ukraine is on the battlefield, the greater the chances that diplomacy will ultimately succeed."

Background:

Earlier the same day, Graham said he had reached an agreement with the White House on a version of the Russia sanctions bill.
As early as mid-November 2025, Graham said Trump had "blessed" Congress to pass the long-stalled Russia sanctions bill.
In January 2026, he said the US president had given the green light to the bipartisan Russia sanctions bill.
